Sand Banding
Highly innovative and versatile on all sports turf surfaces… The unique Vibra -Tine Sand Master is a highly innovative and versatile solution to compacted soils and poorly draining root-zones. It is suitable for use on all fine turf surfaces including golf greens, tees, fairways, bowling greens, rugby and football pitches, race courses and general purpose playing fields. Because the Sand Master incorporates a specially developed oscillating sand delivery system -the machine glides through fine turf, effectively decompacting the soil and simultaneously creating a consistently accurate sand band matrix to vastly improve drainage. The main virtue of this amazing machine, is its ability to solve multiple problems without even disrupting play. How does it work?… A variety of materials can be used including damp or dry sand and gravel. These are fed from the hopper to the oscillating coulter blades below. The high frequency movement prevents blockage whilst injecting and firmly consolidating the sand or gravel into the 15-20 mm slits made by the decompactor blades. These mini-trenches are filled completely from full working depth (15-20cm) to the surface of the turf, creating continuous sand drainage channels. Surface disturbance is absolutely minimal allowing play to continue immediately after normal mowing. The Sand Master will inject sand at a rate of 1-1.5 tonnes per 100 square meters to a depth of 15-20cm. Approximately 4-5 x 500 square metre golf greens can be completed in an 8 hour day including sand loading. Average sized football pitches can be completed within approximately 6 hours including loading. The superb new Vibra-Tine Sand Master… the latest low cost and economical solution to poor drainage on golf courses without upsetting golfers! The stainless steel hopper is fitted with a reciprocating anti-bridging and clogging device, which allows the machine to inject 1 tonne of sand per 100 square metres of turf cleanly and efficiently. The resulting matrix of continuous 15mm sand slits at 26 cm spacings means that surface water is never more than 13 cm from a drainage channel. Surface and root-zone drainage on golf greens is dramatically improved, and allows play to continue on every green even in wet weather periods, at a tiny fraction of the cost of re-building or replacing just one green.
